Prinzipiell sind FFP2-Masken zum einmaligen Gebrauch gedacht. Jedoch werden sie im Privatbereich oftmals mehrfach getragen. Welche Möglichkeiten oder gar Risiken stellt die Mehrfachverwendung der FFP2-Masken dar? An der Fachhochschule Münster fördert das Bundesinstitut für Arzneimittel und Medizinprodukte aktuell ein Forschungsprojekt. Das sind die vorläufigen Ergebnisse: Trocknet man die FFP2-Maske bei Raumluft über einen Zeitraum von sieben Tagen (Achtung: nicht auf die Heizung legen ) verringert sich die Anzahl der Coronaviren auf ein akzeptables Maß. Darüberhinaus zeigen die bisherigen Untersuchungen, dass man ebenfalls die infektiösen Viren durch eine Desinfektion im Backofen inaktivieren kann. Hierbei betonen die Wissenschaftler, dass es außerordentlich wichtig ist, bei beiden Verfahren die Anweisungen exakt zu befolgen.
